Your rights on the internet. This article is for informational purposes only. It is not a substitute for legal advice from a qualified solicitor. You should consult an solicitor if you have questions or need legal guidance. Treatd is a community where consumers can share opinions and experiences. It’s important to understand your rights and responsibilities as a consumer when talking about an experience or sharing an opinion online.
FREE SPEECH & OPINIONS
You have the right to say what you think about something. Even if someone does not agree with your opinion, you are allowed to share it.FACTS
Libel (or defamation) is an untrue public statement that is damaging to a person’s or business’s reputation. The important word here is “untrue” — If you lie about something that happened, and it causes harm to someone else, you may be liable. You can… tell the truth and share your opinion. You can’t… tell lies or break the law.ILLEGAL ACTS & THREATS
It’s illegal to threaten, harass or intimidate someone online. It’s also a violation of Treatd’s Community Guidelines and Terms & Policies.BLACKMAIL & EXTORTION
It’s illegal to demand that someone pay you in return for you doing, or not doing, something. This list is not exhaustive. Anything that is illegal in “real life” is likely also illegal on the Internet. Use common sense and don’t hurt other people. If someone is threatening or hurting you, please report it to us immediately by emailing: hello@treatd.co.ukHow to write a helpful review. We hope everyone has a great experience with their provider, but in reality negative experiences do occur. Here are some tips to help you share your thoughts and get support too.
TELL YOUR STORY
It’s normal to feel upset with a negative result or experience. Think about what you want to share about your experience. Community members like to get to know you and see photos (if you feel comfortable sharing).PERSONAL ATTACKS & OBSCENE LANGUAGE
We’ve found that community members often skip over reviews that include profanity and namecalling. They want to read negative reviews and see all sides of the story, but it’s hard to look past a lot of bad language. Instead, describe what happened and let this illustrate your opinion of the provider. For example, if your providers’ office kept cancelling your post-treatment appointments, readers already know this reflects poorly on the provider.LEVERAGE
We want you to share your experience but make sure that your review is unbiased. Using your review as leverage (such as telling your provider that you’ll write a negative review if you don’t receive a refund) will influence what you’re writing. In some cases, you can still pursue that refund, but leave your review out of it.YOUR SPACE
Everyone at Treatd gets a chance to share their review, whether it’s negative or positive. This is your space and your words. We don’t remove reviews unless the reviewer requests it or the review violates our Terms of Service. Whether you write a positive or negative review, we hope you find support in the Treatd community. That’s what we’re all about. Why was my review declined?Treatd publishes all reviews — both positive and negative — as long as they abide by our Terms of Service. Occasionally, reviews are declined because they don’t meet those guidelines.
